Daily Photo Tour - Tracking Asteroids

Earlier today an asteroid moving along its regular path came within its closest distance to earth in 200 years. It was so close that it passed between the earth and the moon at 201,700 miles away (wow the moon is far away). Its size measures 1300 ft. Don't worry, its not going to hit the earth, but I imagine if this satellite looking observatron did anything spectacular, it would shoot it out of the sky. Or maybe it would just observe it...Okay seriously, does anyone have any idea what this thing does?

I've seen it spin, and there was music coming from it.

Of course....When it spins,it gathers up all the sunshine and happiness and spreads it throughout the Kingdom.

Doesn't it send out signals towards the deepest reaches of space to contact new life forms or something? All while playing that ditty from The Rocketeer?
