Daily Photo Tour - Radiator Springs Curios

Out of all the shops in Radiator Springs, this has to be the one with the most character. One of my favorite details is the sign that reads, "If We're Here, We're Open". Very fitting of a shop found on Route 66. Something I was not accustomed to before moving to the desert not far from the Mother Road, but this is very much the case and it gave me a good chuckle when I first read it. There is incredible detail to be found inside as well. All of the shelving is designed after various vehicles from the film and the ceiling is covered with ornate tin panels. Everything is incredibly thought out and adds a level of charm I was not expecting.

I love this picture!!! Way back in the summer of 1960, my family moved from Rhode Island to San Diego, following Route 66 most of the way. In Arizona, we stayed at a motel in the middle of the desert. The town consisted of the motel, a gas station of sorts and a store accross the street that looked very much like this one in Radiator Springs. This photo brings back lots of great memories. Thanks for sharing it.

Thank you Terry. We've often talked about taking a road trip on Route 66 and imagine there are some incredible things to be seen. Hopefully we can make good on those plans someday soon.
