Daily Photo Tour - Walt's Place

With so many details in Disneyland, this is definitely one worth taking notice of. This iron monogram adorns the balcony of Walt Disney's would-have-been apartment in New Orleans Square alongside a similar one for his brother, Roy Disney. Though Walt didn't live to see it, his dream of the apartment overlooking the Rivers of America was realized in the Dream Suite. I have not had the opportunity to see it in person (it's on my list, ha!), but there is a concept sketch / photo comparison in the Opera House on Main Street which paints the vivid picture of elegance and beauty. Oh to have a seat on that balcony, take a cue from Walt and dream.

They used to let people pay to sit up there and watch Fantasmic, does that not happen anymore?
I never got the chance to do that, but have a friend who did, and he said it was wonderful.

Oh, how I wish all three of you had been taking your extraordinary pictures when the Dream Suite was the Disney Gallery. It was by far my favorite place in all of the park, particularly the enclosed patio area off the Gallery, where, even on a warm and crowded day, you could almost always find respite. I have many, many fond memories of lingering in the Gallery, observing the goings-on, and sitting under an umbrella on the patio, enjoying a cool drink. And I so wish I had a picture you'd taken to remember it by. Good times. Too bad the general public no longer has access to this little slice of perfection. it truly was the best.
