Daily Photo Tour - Thundering 'Round the Bend

You know what I love about Disneyland? I love the fact that I can have the experience of riding a runaway mine train and walk away with the urge to do it again. It's even better when you share that pseudo-near-death experience with friends. The handsome gentleman in front of me for this picture is our good friend Ryan Graves. We always have a blast when he comes out to visit.

Did you guys shoot on a stedi-cam? And I thought HDR had to be multi-exposure? Regardless, great photo!

Thanks! No stedi-cam here. Technically this is a pseudo-hdr. The point of HDR is to capture a full range of light and I was fortunate enough to get a RAW file with no peaking or clipping. So I processed it through Photomatix just like any of our multi-exposure shots.

Ever been stuck on Big Thunder when it has broken down? The last time we were in DL, we rode it as our "last ride of the night". We started up the big hill and CH-CHUNCK, it comes to a halt...at a 45 degree (I'm probably exaggerating, but it felt like it) angle! We sat there for a while and then the "rangers" came and had us carefully climb out of our cars onto the stairs beside the track. They were lucky there weren't any people in wheelchairs on our train because we had to walk back through the inners of the ride (which was totally cool!) and up and down stairs and skinny passageways to get out. The whole time we were trying to get out of our car I was hoping another runaway train wouldn't smash into the back of us! Good memories, and we took a ton of pictures of the inner workings of the ride as we walked out!

This is a beautiful shot as is all of the pictures you all take. I am kind of new to HDR but have gotten some good results myself but can I ask you a few questions? This photo isn't actually shot as an HDR right? I am trying to wrap my head around how an action shot could be shot with multiple exposures. I am sure all this fine work was done in post. Also, the three of you do such beautiful work. Have you ever written a step by step or even a brief description on the process you used to create a photo? Thank you so much for your beautiful web site.
